Sixty-four years ago my mother and father began the process of establishing bird, butterfly, and critter habitat on this Wisconsin homestead I am furthering their initative, expanding the land and environmental area of the initative while learning as I further develop the enviornment they started. Named Oak.a.Toe Shelty Meadows and providing a safe haven, natural/native food, and beauty- this initative will never be complete-but rather an ongoing work, an enviornment continually expanding, seasonally changing, while providing food, safe haven, and native beauty year round.

I'm very impressed by your work! Please keep it up! Since the pandemic started I've learned a lot about my quarter-acre yard and what lives in it. Thanks to my plant ID app, I've catalogued about 150 species of plants and trees on my small property, half of them non-native, and this has automatically led to a complete change in how I approach yardwork. I've now converted my labor-intensive veggie garden into a native weed garden. Plus I have a growing new superpower of identifying plants on sight! Sadly I don't think anyone else in my neighborhood does anything remotely like this.
